Key Things To Remember For House Removals
16 June 2015

Trying to organise everything when you’re moving house can be a real pain. With so much to do and not enough time to do it, getting everything sorted in time for moving day can leave you in a mess and struggling to keep up with you day to day tasks. But there are certain measures that you can take to make the entire process seem a whole lot easier. Check out these hints and tips and see what works for you.

1.    Take your time.
When planning a house move, it’s essential that you don’t rush the process. Get started weeks before your actual moving date and spread the load, getting a little bit done day by day. So begin organising your move well in advance of your moving date, plan everything thoroughly, and then reap the rewards when you’re unpacked, relaxed and nice and comfortable in your new home.

2.    De-clutter.
Although it may seem like a waste of time to some, tidying up and removing clutter from your own house will make the packing process a lot easier to manage. Get rid of anything that you no longer need or aren’t planning on taking with you to your new house. Do a thorough house check; check the loft, basement, the backs of cupboards etc, and get rid of old items that are just sitting there gathering dust. If you’re planning on replacing any items of furniture that are still in reasonable condition, put an ad in the paper or try and sell it on at your local car boot sale in order to make a bit of extra money for the move. For any furniture that you’re buying and that you’ll need right away as soon as you move in, make sure you order it so that its arrival coincides with your first few days in your new house. Don’t order it and have it come to your current house, because this will just mean more to pack, carry and load into the moving van, all of which will end up costing you extra money.

3.    Find a removal company.
Firstly, you’ve got to make a decision as to whether you want to move by yourself, using help from friends and family, or if you need the professional expertise of a well reputed moving company. Whatever your decision may be, make it early then begin putting everything in place so that things run like clockwork on moving day. Start calling up different moving companies and getting price quotes and get any questions that you may have answered which will enable you to make an informed decision and choose the right company for your needs. Be meticulous in your approach to asking questions so that you know exactly how your relocation process will progress; you won’t want to have any unforeseen surprises on moving day!

4.    Looking for cheap removals?
If money’s tight or you want to save as much money as possible from your house move, consider man and van hire. Man and van services are perfect if you don’t have many large or overly expensive items to move and their services will cost a lot less than that of specialist companies. Their services can be described as cheap and cheerful, and nine time out of ten, they will deliver customers with a quality service. However problems may occur when things go wrong, as there’s often far less paperwork involved when it comes to booking their services. Therefore, if you’ve got antique items or items of significant value, booking with a professional company would be your best bet.
